Education & Career

Oral and maxillofacial surgery takes years of hospital training beyond dental school. This is the route Dr. Tolley took — and what brought him back to Tallahassee.

Florida State University

Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude — the start of the FSU ties that would later draw him back to the capital city.

1998–2002

Doctor of Dental Surgery

University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, the world’s first dental school. His training included an oral and maxillofacial surgery externship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

2002–2006

Surgical Residency

A rigorous four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Florida / Shands Jacksonville — a Level I trauma center — spanning maxillofacial trauma, head and neck oncology, TMJ surgery, implants, facial aesthetic surgery, and anesthesia.

After Residency

Lakeland, Then Home

An associate position in Lakeland, Florida — then a return to Tallahassee, drawn by the developing trauma center at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and his strong ties to Florida State.

2007

Founding the Practice

With the support of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Dr. Tolley founded Oral & Facial Surgery Center of Tallahassee.

2009 – Today

Board Certification & Hospital Practice

Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2009. He remains affiliated with Capital Regional Medical Center, where he performs oral trauma surgery and treats dental emergencies.

Scope of Training

Trained Across the Full Scope of the Specialty

His residency and practice span far more than routine extractions — which matters most on the day a case turns out not to be routine.

Maxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction

Advanced experience in facial trauma, gained at a Level I trauma center and continued in hospital practice today.

Head & Neck Oncology & Pathology

Training in the diagnosis and surgical management of oral and facial pathology. More on oral pathology.

Dental Implant Surgery

From single teeth to full-arch reconstruction. See how implant treatment works.

TMJ & Orthognathic Surgery

Temporomandibular joint surgery and corrective jaw surgery, among his particular practice interests.

Reconstructive & Cosmetic Facial Surgery

Facial aesthetic training alongside the reconstructive work — form and function planned together.

IV Sedation & General Anesthesia

Residency-trained in anesthesia, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support held since 2002 and The Difficult Airway Course completed.

Certifications

Credentialed, and Kept Current

Board status and life-support certifications are maintained continuously, not earned once and left behind.
